The starter is located behind the cylinder block and is removed downwards.


Removal



1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. On a diesel engine, engage the manual transmission into gear so that you can reach the starter.

3. Disconnect the wires from terminal 30 (1) and terminal 50 (2) on the traction relay.

4. Remove the mounting bolts (1) from the flange.

5. Remove the starter.

Installation



1. On petrol engines, install the starter and tighten its mounting bolts with force 25 Nm.

2. On diesel engines, tighten the upper starter mounting bolt to 75 Nm, and the lower one - with effort 45 Nm.

3. Connect the wires to terminals 30 and 50 of the traction relay.

4. Connect the negative cable to the battery.

Connect the wire only with the ignition off to avoid damaging the ECM.
