Removing
1. Remove the drive belt (see chapter Vehicle settings and routine maintenance).
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
3. Remove the air filter housing with air intake sleeve (see chapter Power supply systems, release and reduction of toxicity of exhaust gases).
4. On engine 82 hp remove the throttle valve.
5. Disconnect all electrical wiring from the generator. On diesel engine Disconnect the alternator connector located on the right longitudinal beam of the frame.
6. On diesel engine unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the front link holder from the cross beam (see chapter Engines).
7. On diesel engine remove the vacuum pump (see chapter Brake system).
8. On engines with a V-shaped belt, remove the bolts securing the alternator to the tensioner and to the lower mounting element.

9. On DOHC engines with reinforced V-belt, remove the right drive shaft (see chapter Clutch and drive shafts).
10. On engines with a reinforced V-belt, remove the bolts securing the generator to the bracket (2) and bottom fastener (1) On DOHC engines with heavy duty V-belt, disconnect alternator from accessory holder.

Installation
1. Install the generator in place, fasten its fasteners by hand.
2. Secure all electrical wiring. Make sure ground is connected.
3. On diesel engine install a vacuum pump (see chapter Brake system).
4. On diesel engine pass the tap through the threaded holes in the holder. Lubricate new bolts with locking sealant, e.g. OPEL 90167347 (1510177) and insert into the holder. Tighten the bolts in two steps, first with force 50 Nm, and then rotate their angle 90 deg.
Holder bolts
5. On engines with a reinforced V-belt, install the generator in place and tighten its fasteners to the lower holder with a force 35 Nm, and fasteners to the upper holder - with force 20 Nm.
6. Put on the V-belt and tighten it (see chapter Vehicle settings and routine maintenance) .
7. On V-belt engines, tighten the top and bottom fasteners.
Top and bottom fasteners
8. Reinstall the air intake hose and air filter.
9. On engine 82 hp install the throttle valve.
10. On DOHC engines install the right drive shaft (see chapter Engines).
11. Connect a negative wire to the storage battery.
Connect the wire only with the ignition off to avoid damaging the ECM.
1.0L DOHC Engine Features
1. Remove the V-belt and lay it on the pulleys (see chapter Vehicle settings and routine maintenance).
2. Turn out bolts of fastening and remove the generator.

3. Install the generator and tighten its fasteners with force 40 Nm.
4. Put on the V-belt.
