Removal and installation of the exhaust system (Opel Kadett D)

Consists of an exhaust intake pipe, front and main mufflers. All components are screwed or welded to each other and can be replaced individually. The front and main mufflers are secured in rubber brackets. The exhaust intake pipe, depending on the model, is secured in an additional bracket.

Removal



Place the car on jack stands.

Wet all screw connections with rust remover.

Unscrew the bracket from the front exhaust pipe. The picture shows the brackets for 1.6-/1.8-liter engines.

Unscrew the flange from the manifold.

Release the exhaust pipe from the rubber holders.

Disconnect the pipe from the rear muffler.

Installation



Before installation, clean all mating surfaces. Install only new gaskets and rubber holders.



Final tightening of the screws should be done only after the exhaust pipe has been installed.
