Replacing the exhaust system (Opel Insignia A)

Note: Below we describe the replacement of the exhaust pipe in the most general case. For some modifications of the car the procedure may differ slightly due to design features.


1. Raise and secure the vehicle.

2. Remove the propeller shaft.

3. Install the mounting sleeve (1) on the elastic part of the exhaust pipe.

3. Install the mounting sleeve (1) on the elastic part of the exhaust pipe.


Caution: To prevent internal damage to the elastic connection of the catalytic converter, the converter must be supported. The vertical movement at the rear of the catalytic converter must not exceed 6 up or down.


Note.
  • The exhaust system mounting clamps must be replaced whenever they are found to be loose. When replacing the exhaust system, the mounting sleeve should only be removed after installation, immediately before starting the engine. The mounting sleeve should also be used for other operations in which the exhaust system must be removed, in order to protect the elastic connection.
  • The installation procedure for the mounting sleeve is provided in the enclosed instructions.


4. Loosen the nuts securing the front exhaust pipe (1) to the catalytic converter.

5. With the help of an assistant, lower the exhaust system from the vehicle.



6. Remove the front exhaust pipe from the bracket.

7. Remove the exhaust tract (1) from the brackets in five places (2).
