Removing
1. Open the hood.
2. Raise and fix the car on the lift.
Attention.
- To prevent burns, allow the exhaust system to cool before working on it.
- Always use safety goggles and gloves when removing parts from this issue, as rust particles and sharp edges from worn components can cause serious injury.
3. Remove 3 nuts (2) front exhaust pipe.
4. Remove gasket (4) front exhaust pipe.
5. Retract the front exhaust pipe (3) aside and secure.
6. Remove 2 screws (1) catalytic converter bracket.
7. Lower the car.
8. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector and remove the wire from the clamp (1).
9. Remove 9 exhaust manifold nuts (1).
10. Remove exhaust manifold (1) with gasket (2).
Note. The exhaust manifold and catalytic converter are combined into one piece.
Installation
1. Check the condition of the exhaust manifold threaded studs, re-thread if necessary.
2. Clean contact surfaces. Remove the remnants of the old gasket.
3. Install a new exhaust manifold gasket and exhaust manifold.
4. Install new exhaust manifold nuts and tighten to 22 Nm.
5. Raise the car.
6. Install the two catalytic converter bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 10 Nm.
7. Install the front exhaust pipe gasket (4).
8. Install front exhaust pipe (3) to the catalytic converter.
9. Install 3 new nuts on the front exhaust pipe and tighten to 17 Nm.
10. Lower the car.
11. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector (2) and fix the wire in the holder (1).
12. Close the hood.
