Replacing the rear muffler (Opel Kadett D)

Removal

Place the rear of the car on jack stands.

Unscrew the clamp, shine the pipe, See figure B3391.



Remove the muffler.

Installation

Install a new muffler.

Adjust the position of the pipe.

Secure the clamp.

Secure the rubber suspension by bending the metal tabs.

Note: Since 4/83, GTE cars have been equipped with a modified rear silencer suspension. The silencer is dated 04.3.

In cars with old suspension, at 2400 rpm, extraneous noises may occur in the muffler area. In such a case, it is necessary to install an additional clamp (OPEL #856293) at a distance of 110 cm from the edge of the front muffler to the middle of the clamp, looking in the direction of travel, to secure the rear muffler.
