Replacing the exhaust pipe with a middle muffler (Opel Kadett D)

Removal

Place the car on jack stands.

Wet all screws with rust remover.

Unscrew the middle pipe from the flange, See Figure B3389.

Loosen the clamp and disconnect the middle section of the exhaust pipe from the rear muffler, See Fig. B3391.

Installation

Install the front muffler with the middle exhaust pipe. Screw on the flange with a new graphite ring, See Figure B3388.



Attach the rear muffler.

Adjust the position of the pipe and secure the clamp to the rear muffler.

Note: For the 1.3-liter engine, the exhaust system is supplied as a spare part, separately from the front muffler. When working on the 1.3-liter engine, disconnect the old system from the front muffler in accordance with the newly installed part, insert the new, middle exhaust pipe into the exhaust inlet pipe and secure with a clamp.
