The timing case can be removed without removing the engine.

Crush



Loosen the generator tensioner clamp.

Remove the V-belt.

Remove the crankshaft pulley.

Unscrew the timing case cover.

Unscrew the timing case cover.


Remove any remaining cork seal from the sealing surfaces.

Installation



Installation


Glue on a new cork gasket, applying a little grease in some places.

Lightly lubricate the crankshaft oil seal with molybdenum disulfide (OPEL #1948524).

Install the timing cover with the crankshaft pulley.



Loosely screw the cover to the back of the case with a few screws.

Then remove the pulley again without moving the cover.

Screw the cover on evenly with all screws, crosswise.

Install the crankshaft pulley and tighten to 40 Nm.

Install and tension the V-belt, see item 22.2.

Check the oil level and top up if necessary.
