Checking the valve guides (Opel Kadett D)

            0

It is not enough to simply replace or grind the valves and their seats. It is necessary to check the valve guides, especially in engines with high mileage. Worn guides do not ensure the valve centering, which leads to increased oil consumption. If the guides are too worn, they are turned or replaced.

The diameter of the guide bushings is measured with a micrometer.

The guide bushings should be unfolded from the top side of the cylinder head.

Note: Valves with a larger diameter stem must be inserted into the expanded guides.
