Camshaft Seals — Replacement (Opel Omega B2)

1. Remove the camshaft sprocket as described in Chapter 8.

2. Carefully punch or drill two small holes in the seal. Screw self-tapping screws into them and, pulling the screws with pliers, remove the seal. Alternatively, carefully press the seal out.

3. Clean the seal housing and remove any burrs or rough spots that could damage the new seal during installation using emery cloth.

4. Lubricate the sealing lips of the new oil seal with clean engine oil and push it into position using a suitable tubular drift (type of nest), resting only on the solid outer edge of the seal. Do not damage the lips of the seal during installation. Note that the lips must face inward.

5. Install the camshaft sprocket as described in Chapter 8.
