The oil pump serves to supply oil to the rubbing parts and to the oil filter for cleaning. The pump is a gear type with two internal gears. The drive gear is mounted on the crankshaft. The discharge channel of the oil pump is connected by a channel to the oil filter.
When the engine is running, the oil pump gears suck oil from the crankcase through the oil intake tube with a mesh filter and the suction cavity. The cavities of the pump gear teeth force the oil into the discharge cavity and feed it under pressure through the oil filter to lubricate the rubbing parts. After the engine stops, some of the oil remains in the pump's discharge cavity and allows the pump to quickly start working after the next engine start.
Removal
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
Remove the engine (see the relevant chapter).
Install the engine on the KM-412 stand with KM-412-16 and KM-412-8-1 adapters.
Remove the cylinder head vacuum pump (see the relevant chapter).
Remove the cylinder head cover (see the relevant chapter).
Remove the cylinder head (see the relevant chapter).
Remove the oil pan from the cylinder block (see the relevant chapter).
Loosen the bolts and remove the cover (1) from the timing drive housing.
Warning! The timing cover must not be removed using a lever or with significant force, otherwise it will be deformed.

Remove the drive (2) and driven (3) gears from the pump.

Clean all parts, inspect them and make sure they are not worn or damaged. Replace them with new ones if necessary.
Installation
Install the drive and driven gears into the pump housing, secure the cover and tighten its mounting bolts to 8 Nm.
Install the timing drive housing (see the relevant chapter).
Further installation of the oil pump is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
