Periodic oil and oil filter changes are the most important preventative maintenance procedure. As motor oil ages, it becomes thin and contaminated, leading to premature engine wear.
Before starting this procedure, gather together all the necessary tools and materials. It is necessary for the engine to be warm so that the oil drains better along with the bulk of the contaminants:
Warnings:
- When working under the vehicle, be careful not to touch the exhaust pipes or other hot engine parts.
- Long-term skin contact with mineral oil results in the removal of natural fats from human skin, resulting in dryness, irritation and dermatitis. In addition, used motor oil contains potentially harmful substances that can cause skin cancer.
- Raise the vehicle so that it remains in a horizontal position. If the vehicle is raised on a slope, make sure the engine oil drain plug on the oil pan is at its lowest point.
Removal
Remove the lower engine compartment protection.
Place a container under the oil drain plug to collect any leaking oil. Remove the plug and drain the engine oil from the engine.
Unscrew the cover (1) from the oil filter housing and remove it together with the filter element.
Installation
Install new sealing rings (1), then install the oil filter cover together with the new filter element (2) into the filter housing and tighten the cover to 22 N·m.
Screw the oil drain plug with a new seal into the oil pan and tighten it to a torque of 10 N·m.
Install the lower engine compartment protection.
Fill the engine with the required amount of the required motor oil.

Start the engine, wait until the oil pressure warning light goes out, then turn off the engine.
Check the engine oil level and correct it if necessary.
