Brake pipes and hoses (Opel Frontera B)

If any hose or tube needs to be replaced, it is important to minimize the loss of brake fluid. To do this, first remove the cap from the refill tank, then put a piece of plastic film on the filler neck and screw the cap on so that no more air can pass through it. Alternatively, the corresponding flexible brake hoses can be clamped using a suitable hose clamp. To collect any leaking fluid, place a rag over the connection that needs to be disconnected.

Front brake pipe and hose

Removal

Add brake fluid to the reservoir up to the MAX mark.

Loosen the front wheel mounting nuts. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.

Always clean the connection and the area around the connection before disconnecting the tube. Unscrew the connecting nut securing the brake hose to the brake pipe. To loosen the union nut, it is recommended to use a special ring spanner of the required size. In extreme cases, you can use a regular wrench, but if the nut is too tight or rusty, you can strip its edges. In this case, using a gas wrench is the only option, but the damaged nut and tube will need to be replaced.

Remove the hollow brake hose mounting bolt, remove and discard the sealing washers.

Installation

Using a hollow bolt and new sealing washers, secure the brake hose to the caliper, making sure the locating pin (arrow) is properly seated in the caliper bore. Tighten the banjo bolt to 35 Nm.



Connect the brake hose to the pipe and secure it with the union nut, tightening it to a torque of 19 N·m.

Remove the plastic film from the filler neck of the master cylinder and bleed the hydraulic system. Wash away any spilled brake fluid and check the system for leaks.

Install the wheel and secure with nuts, tightening them to a torque of 118 Nm.

Rear brake pipe and hose

Removal

Add brake fluid to the reservoir up to the MAX mark.

Loosen the connecting nuts (1) and disconnect the brake pipes (1) from the brake hose (2).

Remove the bolts (3) and disconnect the brake pipe from the brackets.

Installation

Install the brake pipe on the brackets and secure with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 15 Nm.



Connect the brake hose to the pipe and secure it with the union nut, tightening it to a torque of 19 N·m.



Check that the tubes and hoses are routed correctly, are not kinked and are secured with the provided clamps and brackets.

Remove the plastic film from the filler neck of the master cylinder and bleed the hydraulic system. Wash away any spilled brake fluid and check the system for leaks.
