Brake pipes and hoses — removal and installation (Opel Omega A)

1. Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and seal the openings with plastic to prevent further loss of brake fluid.

2. Jack up the car and secure it on axle stands.

Front flexible hose

3. Remove the front wheel.

4. Turn the steering to the maximum angle of rotation of the wheels. Unscrew the bolt securing the hose to the caliper and remove the copper gaskets.

5. Remove the stops from the units (photo). On ABS models, disconnect the hose from the brackets.





6. Unscrew the rigid connection of the brake pipe and remove the hose.

7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, but make sure that the hose does not twist. Bleed the hydraulic system as described in Chapter 13.

Rear flexible hose

8. Remove the stops from the installations.

9. Unscrew the brake pipe hard connections and remove the hose.

10. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, but make sure that the hose does not twist. Bleed the hydraulic system as described in Chapter 13.

Brake pipes

11. Some commonly used brake pipes are already supplied with connections, however others need to be prepared to connect to the 4.75mm diameter brake line.

12. To remove the brake pipe, unscrew the connections at each end and release them from the clamps.

13. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Bleed the hydraulic system as described in Chapter 13.
