General description
1. When checking the condition of the pipes and/or hoses of the system, make sure they are not intertwined with other similar components (e.g. power steering tubes). With such contact, the hoses and tubes rub against each other, which leads to their rapid wear. If necessary, secure the brake pipes and hoses with clips or zip ties at a sufficient distance from other components.
Solid tubes
Removing
2. Some of the brake pipes can be purchased from Opel dealers ready-made - bent to the desired profile and equipped with couplings. The rest of the brake pipes must be cut by yourself from a specially designed tube with a diameter of 4.75 mm. Brake pipe kits are available from auto parts stores.
3. Before disconnecting the brake pipe, remove the cover of the brake fluid reservoir, cover the filler neck with a piece of polyethylene, and secure it with an elastic band or reinstall the cover. This will reduce fluid loss during the next procedure.
4. Jack up the vehicle and place it securely on axle stands.
5. To remove the brake tube, unscrew the couplings at each end and release the tube from the mounting brackets.
Installation
6. Install in reverse order, being careful not to overtighten the couplings.
7. Finally, remove the polyethylene from the filler neck of the reservoir and bleed the appropriate hydraulic line as described in Chapter 3.
Flexible hoses
Removing
8. Proceed as above, but note that the hose should not be bent after installation, although a slight bend is acceptable to allow the hose to be pulled away from adjacent components.
Installation
9. When connecting the flexible hose to the front brake caliper, replace the coupling bolt O-rings.
