Brake pedal — removal and installation (Opel Omega A)

1. Inside the vehicle, disconnect the wiring from the brake light switch, then unscrew the switch from the pedal hanger, noting the position (photo).

2. Disconnect the clutch and brake pedal return springs.

3. Remove the spring clip and pull out the pin with a head and a hole for a cotter pin securing the servo pushrod to the brake pedal.

4. Disconnect the cable from the clutch pedal.

5. Unscrew the nut from the end of the pedal lever and remove the gasket.

6. Remove the nuts securing the pedal hanger to the bulkhead and rotate the hanger around the steering column to allow removal of the pedal arm. Note that on later models it may be necessary to remove the steering column to remove the pedal hanger from its mounting posts. The column is removed as described in Section 10, Chapter 22, noting that it is not necessary to remove the steering wheel or lock cylinder; the column can be removed along with them.

7. Remove the pedal mounting brackets and take out the shaft. Take the thrust washers.
