The brake pedal is removed for replacement if it squeaks, sticks, or has increased play, or if the return spring is damaged. The brake pedal, together with the clutch pedal, is part of the pedal assembly. To replace or repair it, the pedal assembly must be removed. Removing the pedal assembly is described in detail in the "Transmission" section (see Removal and installation the clutch pedal).
