If the pedal stroke lengthens over time, then it is possible that there is a malfunction in the brake system:
With the engine running, depress the brake pedal with your hand.
Free travel should be a maximum of ⅓ of the possible pedal travel.
Otherwise, the automatic adjustment in the drum brakes of the rear axle no longer functions.
Or the disc brake linings have worn down to a minimum.
Excessive pedal travel can also be caused by stuck brake pads or rusted brake calipers.
It is also possible that air has entered the brake system.
