Ways to check the performance of the vacuum brake booster are described earlier in this section (see Checking the operation of the vacuum brake booster).
You will need: keys «at 13», «at 17», «at 15» or special key «at 15» for brake lines, socket «at 13», pliers, flat blade screwdriver.
Note. Brake line nuts are usually very tight. When you try to unscrew them with an ordinary wrench, the edges of the nuts are crushed, so we recommend using special wrenches for brake pipes.
1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
2. Remove the battery (see Removing and installing the battery) …
3.... and a shelf for its fastening (see Removal and installation of the shelf of fastening of the rechargeable battery).
4. Remove the brake master cylinder (see Replacing the master brake cylinder).
5. Disconnect the block of the wiring harness from the check valve by pressing on its spring clip.
6. Loosen the clamp securing the hose valve to the intake pipe by squeezing its bent ears with pliers..
7.... slide the clamp along the hose..
8.... and disconnect the hose from the valve fitting.
9. Remove the hose to the vacuum pump from the holder..
10.... remove the valve from the hole in the sealing sleeve of the vacuum brake booster and take it aside without disconnecting the hose to the vacuum pump.
11. Turn out two bolts of fastening of the vacuum amplifier..
12.... remove the bolts from the holes in the bulkhead shield and the amplifier housing...
Note. This is how the vacuum booster mounting bolts are located.
13.... and remove the amplifier into the engine compartment.
Note. The tip of the vacuum brake booster rod is inserted into a special stop on the brake pedal and is not fixed in it in any way.
14. In case of replacement of the vacuum booster remove from it a sealing lining and establish on the new amplifier.
Note. Replace a heavily compressed or torn gasket.
15. Install the brake booster and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal. Top up the brake fluid and bleed the system (see Bleeding the hydraulic drive of the brake system).
Note. Be sure to replace the rubber sealing ring of the flange of the brake master cylinder with a new one.
