Replacing brake pads (Opel Kadett E)

            0

Contents: Removal ⬇ Installation ⬇
The replacement of brake pads on both ATE and GMF brand brake mechanisms is performed in the same way. The replacement should be performed simultaneously on both brake mechanisms, i.e. both pairs of pads.

Removal

Raise the front of the car and place it on stands. Remove the front wheels, marking their position relative to the hubs.

Depending on the modification, disconnect the wires from the brake pad wear sensor.

Knock out the brake pad guide pins towards the outside of the disc.

Remove the brake shoe pressure springs.

Remove the outer brake shoe first, then the inner brake shoe.

Move the piston as far as possible into the cylinder, having first removed some of the brake fluid from the reservoir if necessary.

Measure the thickness of the discs and check the condition of their working surfaces. Check the condition of the protective caps of the wheel cylinders.

On vehicles with ATE brand brake mechanisms, check the piston position using template 03 9314 5310-1/02 and, if necessary, use pliers 03 9314 5700-3/01 to set it in the correct position.

Installation

Install the new inner brake shoe in place.

Install the outer brake shoe, guide pins and pressure springs so that the slots in the guide pins face each other.

Perform the specified operations on the other front wheel brake mechanism.

Press the brake pedal several times to set the piston to the working position.

Check and, if necessary, restore the brake fluid level in the reservoir.

Depending on the modification, connect the wires to the brake pad wear sensor.

Install the front wheels, observing the marks made during removal.
