Technical characteristics of the anti-lock braking system (Opel Kadett E)

            0

Depending on the configuration, vehicles with the 20XE engine are equipped with a Teves anti-lock braking system (ABS) as standard or special equipment.

The main components of ABS are:
  • wheel speed sensors mounted opposite the gears attached to the wheel hubs;
  • a hydraulic distribution block that includes electromagnetic valves for regulating the brake fluid pressure in the wheel cylinders, a high-pressure pump and a switch for the ABS malfunction indicator lamp, which lights up in the instrument cluster when there is a sharp drop in fluid pressure in the system;
  • an electronic control unit that, based on information received from wheel speed sensors, generates commands to control the hydraulic control unit valves.
