Parking brake cables (Opel Frontera B)

Removal



Release the parking brake lever.

Loosen the rear wheel nuts. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands.

Remove the rear wheels.

Remove the screws and remove the rear console.

When removing only the left parking brake cable, remove the fuel tank (see the relevant chapter).

Remove the rear brake calipers (see the relevant chapter).

Remove the brake drums.

Disconnect the parking brake cables from the release levers on the brake shoes.

Remove the bolts (1), (2), (3) and (4) securing the parking brake cable clamps

Loosen the nuts (5) securing the parking brake cables.

Unscrew the nut (6) and remove the retainer (7).

Disconnect the parking brake cables (8) from the compensator (9).

Installation



Connect the parking brake cables (8) to the compensator (9) and lubricate the cable connection points.

Install the retainer (7) and secure with the nut, tightening it to a torque of 41 Nm.



Screw on the parking brake cable mounting nuts (5) and tighten them to a torque of 15 Nm.

Secure the parking brake cable clamps (1), (2), (3) and (4) with bolts and tighten the bolts to a torque of 6.5 Nm.

Connect the parking brake cables to the release levers on the brake shoes.

Install the brake drums.

Install the rear brake calipers (see the relevant chapter).

Adjust the parking brake cables (see the relevant chapter).

Install the fuel tank.

Install the rear console.

Install the rear wheels and secure with nuts, tightening them to a torque of 118 Nm.
