Front section
1. Remove the center console (see Chapter 11).
2. Unscrew the adjusting nut of the parking brake drive.
3. Using pliers, grasp the parking brake cable at the lower end of the threaded rod and release it from the guide.
4. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on stands.
5. Remove the intake pipe and additional muffler of the exhaust system (see Chapter 4).
6. Loosen the fastening nuts (see accompanying illustration) and remove the heat shield from the bottom of the car, then remove the exhaust system holders.

7. Rotate the tip 90° (see illustration 14.6) front parking brake cable and disconnect it from the equalizer. Disconnect the cables at the parking brake lever carrier plate and pull the cable out of the bushing and out of the hole in the underbody of the vehicle.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. When securing the cable in the equalizer (see accompanying illustration) insert it into the slot and turn it 90°. After the cable is seated, pull the stop collar onto the tip shaft to prevent the cable from being disconnected spontaneously.

9. After completing the work, adjust the parking brake (see Section 12).
Main section
Note: The main section consists of two cables and an equalizer.
10. Loosen the parking brake drive (see Section 12).
11. Support the front wheels with wheel chocks, jack up the rear of the vehicle and place it on supports. Release the parking brake completely. Disconnect the parking brake cables from the actuator levers and rear wheel calipers (see Section 6) (see illustration 6.3).
12. Disconnect the front section of the drive cable from the equalizer (see above).
13. Release the main section cables from the support brackets on the rear beam and fuel tank (see accompanying illustration) and remove them from under the car.

14. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Do not forget to install a new locking plate on the caliper support.
15. After completing the work, adjust the parking brake (see Section 12).
Zafira Models
Note: Removal/installation of the drive cables is performed in almost the same way as on Astra models, but it is necessary to remove the parking brake lever. Only the features associated with this operation are given below.
16. Loosen the adjusting nut completely and loosen the drive cable (see Section 12).
17. Rotate the end of the front section of the parking brake cable by 90° and disconnect it from the equalizer.
18. Remove the center console (see Chapter 11).
19. Disconnect the wiring of the parking brake indicator switch sensor and the yaw sensor. Unscrew the 2 nuts and remove the yaw sensor from the plate.
20. Unscrew 2 nuts (see accompanying illustration) and remove the plate, then unscrew the 2 mounting bolts and release the wiring harnesses. Loosen the 4 mounting nuts and remove the parking brake lever with the bracket.

21. Release the cable bushing from the parking brake lever plate and pull the cable out of the bushing.
22. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Replace the parking brake lever mounting nuts and tighten them to the required torque.
