1. Remove the camshaft timing belt (see section 5) and rear shield.
2. Remove the central bolt of the crankshaft sprocket (if available). Using 2 screwdrivers as levers, pull the sprocket off the front end of the crankshaft. Remove the segment key.
3. Remove the pan (see section 10).
4. Remove the oil pump oil intake pipe and strainer.
5. Remove the bolts securing the oil pump to the cylinder block and remove it.
6. The procedure for overhauling the oil pump is specified in section 29.
7. Before installing the pump in place, care should be taken not to damage the seal lips and not to bend them back when installing the pump. To do this, lubricate the oil seal lips and wrap the end of the crankshaft with cloth so that it takes the shape of a cone. Install a new gasket.
8. Reinstall the oil pump and remove the cloth from the end of the crankshaft.
9. Tighten the bolts to the required torque and install the crankshaft sprocket in place.
10. Reinstall the pump oil pickup tube and strainer, pan, camshaft belt and belt cover.
11. Reinstall the crankshaft pulley and camshaft drive belt and fill the engine with engine oil.
