Engine/gearbox mounts — replacement (Opel Ascona C)

1. Engine/gearbox mounts can be replaced if they have hardened or become deformed. Support the engine and gearbox with a jack (placing a wooden block between the jack and the engine) or hang it on hoists.

2. Loosen the bolts securing the support brackets to the engine or gearbox housing and to the body frame, and disconnect the brackets from the cushions.

3. Install new cushions and tighten the fasteners slightly with bolts.

4. After the engine/gearbox is again supported by its full weight on the mounts, tighten all bolts to the specified torque.
