Safety precautions when working with the power supply system (Opel Frontera A)

            0

When performing any work on the injection system, the following precautions must be taken:

1. The main rule: persons with a pacemaker are not allowed to work on the injection system and the associated ignition system.

2. General rule: when performing any work in the engine compartment, it is necessary, at a minimum, to turn off the ignition system, and even better, to disconnect the ground cable from the battery. To protect against possible accidental connection of the cable to the battery, the cable must be moved to the side.

3. If the battery is disconnected, the diagnostic system, the radio receiver security code (if a radio receiver of this type is installed) and other devices in the car that have memory lose information. For the radio receiver, the code must be entered again.

4. Depending on the type of anti-theft alarm system installed, it may turn on when the battery is disconnected. You can get more detailed information about this in the instructions for using the anti-theft alarm system. Please read it before disconnecting the battery.

5. Do not start the engine unless the battery terminals are properly secured.

6. Do not disconnect the battery while the engine is running.

7. Before charging the battery, it must be disconnected.

8. Do not use a battery with a voltage greater than 12 V to start the engine.

9. Do not turn off the electronic control unit if the ignition is on.

10. Before connecting the plug connection, check the condition of the terminals and the reliability of their mating. Also check the reliability of the spring fixation.

11. Before carrying out welding work, disconnect the electronic control unit from the electrical circuit.

12. When checking the compression pressure, disconnect the connecting plug from the electronic control unit. This prevents fuel from being supplied to the injection valves.

13. Do not use test lights to check circuits or use ground wires.

14. The fuel system is under constant pressure. This means that if the fuel lines or any other components of the system are disconnected, fuel may be released. Opel auto repair shops use a special device to relieve pressure in the system. If such a device is not available, a thick cloth is placed on the connection and the nut is slowly unscrewed. Obviously, do not smoke or use an open flame or test light when working on the fuel system.

15. Before carrying out any work on the injection system and the associated ignition system, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with their structure.
