Injection system — general information (Opel Frontera A)

            0

The vehicles are equipped with the following injection systems.

The 2.0L eight-valve (OHC) engine is equipped with a Bosch Motronic M1.5 multi-point injection system. Since mid-1995, a new Motronic M1.5.4 system has been installed. It is a single engine management system. Engines of this type are equipped with a new exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, which directs up to 15% of the exhaust gases into the engine combustion chambers. The entire series of 2.4 l engines is equipped with the specified injection system.

The new 2.2 L (DOHC) engine, which belongs to the ECOTEC series with 16 valves, is equipped with a Motronic 15.4 multi-position injection system. The engine has knock control, an electronically controlled exhaust gas recirculation system, and a secondary air mixing system. It should be borne in mind that this system has not been installed since 1997.

Although, as already stated, repair work on the injection system is not carried out, a description of the main elements of the system is provided here. The description mainly concerns the Motronic M1.5.4 system. A description of older injection systems is also provided.

To carry out any work in accordance with the instructions given, it is necessary to have some experience working with injection systems and associated ignition systems. We do not bear any responsibility for any damage that may arise as a result of unqualified interference with system elements.
