The purpose of the secondary air mixing system in 2.2 l engines is to oxidize exhaust gases during engine warm-up and reduce the reaction time of the catalyst. The supplied air helps to burn off unburned fuel particles in the exhaust gases.
The secondary air mixing system has an air pump located in the engine compartment and mounted on the side wall. The pump's low pressure hoses are connected to the motor, shut-off valve and air filter.
The pump is attached to the bracket with bolts.
