The description of the old suspension model is not given here. Below is a description of the new suspension, which has a more complex design.
Longitudinal suspension arms are made of pipes. A short lever located in the center above the differential housing serves to absorb the loads that occur during braking and acceleration. Lateral fastening is carried out by means of a transverse arm rod, the so-called transverse torque rod, fixed at one end to the rear right of the axle, and the other end to the left of the chassis.
The suspension has an anti-roll bar mounted on rubber bushings in front of the axle and linked to the axle by connecting rods with ball joints.
The control arms and transverse torque rod have rubber bushings with minimal friction, which ensures that the suspension moves freely when the car hits various bumps in the road. The bridge and suspension are shown in the illustration.
Rear axle with coil spring suspension
Two different cardan shafts are used to drive the rear axle. In three-door cars, the cardan shaft is integral. For vehicles with extended wheelbase (5 doors) a cardan shaft is used, consisting of two parts, having an intermediate support.
In addition, there is a difference in the design of the rear brake mechanism. Drum and disc brakes are used, which affects the performance of some work.
When carrying out repairs, take into account the difference in the design of the rear suspension. If there are no instructions in the text, the work for both versions of the suspension is carried out in the same way.
When performing work on the rear suspension, follow the instructions given at the beginning of the section "Front wheel suspension". Do not forget about the need to securely fasten the car.
