Rear axle turning angle (3) is the orientation direction of the rear wheels (1) relative to the center line of the vehicle (2). If the steering angle is not zero, the vehicle will move sideways and the steering wheel will not be centered. The best solution is to first adjust the toe of the rear wheels about the center line, and then adjust the angles of the front wheels. This is usually done during a 4 wheel alignment, provided the rear wheel toe is adjusted. If the rear wheels are not adjustable, then the front wheel angles must be adjusted to compensate for the front axle swivel angle to allow the steering wheel to be level.
