Removal



1. Remove the rear wheel hub as described in Chapter 13.

2. Working behind the brake support plate, loosen and remove the four bolts securing the steering knuckle and support plate to the trailing arm (see illustration).

Support the brake backing plate after removing the bolts, and once the stub axle is removed, install the bolts to secure the backing plate, thus avoiding deformation of the brake pipe.

Installation



3. Install in the reverse order. Coat the areas of the stub axle flange that contact the brake backing plate with a small amount of lithium grease and install the rear wheel hub as described in Chapter 13.

4. Tighten the support shield/steering knuckle mounting bolts to the specified tightening torque Specifications.
