Since mid-1995, the design of the front suspension has been changed due to the introduction of an anti-lock braking system. In connection with this, the design of the upper and lower wishbones was also changed. The connection between the anti-roll bar and the wishbones is now carried out via connecting rods with ball joints. Changes were made to the front torsion bars. Gas-filled shock absorbers. Cars produced since mid-1995 have larger 16-inch wheels instead of the previously used 15-inch wheels. The geometry of the front suspension has been changed accordingly.
Despite the changes made to the design of the front suspension of the 1997 vehicle, the axle was not changed.
Before describing the work carried out on the front suspension, it is necessary to provide some general instructions that are not mentioned below:
- 1 - Before removing the wheels, it is necessary to mark their position relative to the hubs. When installing wheels, it is necessary to take into account the markings.
- 2 - All bolts, nuts and other fasteners must be tightened to the specified torque.
- 3 - Before starting any work, it is necessary to disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
- 4 - The threads of connections installed with the "Loctite" fixing agent must be lapped or tapped to remove any remaining "Loctite" before re-use. This does not apply to microencapsulated bolts.
1. Before installing the brake disc, check that there is no dirt or foreign particles between the disc and the hub. The mating surfaces must be smooth and free of nicks.
2. Dispose of brake fluid in accordance with legal requirements.
3. Adhesives, sealants and other materials have a certain shelf life. Do not use these materials if their expiration date has passed.
4. After completing the repair, install the removed cables in place and secure them with the standard fastening elements provided by the vehicle design.
5. All work must be carried out in compliance with labor protection and environmental protection regulations. It should be remembered that the car is very heavy. Do not lie under a vehicle without taking appropriate precautions to secure the vehicle in a raised position.
6. When turning a wheel, it must be placed next to it under the car, thereby providing additional safety measures in the event of a car fall.
