Photo 28.1. Engine oil filter.
2. We recommend that on vehicles with engines after major overhauls, the oil and filter are replaced after 1000 km.
3. The oil should be drained while hot, because in this case, all impurities and dirt will be washed away more effectively.
4. Remove the oil filler plug.
5. Place a container to collect oil under the drain plug of the pan and unscrew the plug. Allow the oil to drain completely and replace the plug.
b. On 1.3 engines, the oil filter is located next to the lower pipes of the gas exhaust system, on the side surface of the crankcase. When replacing the filter, be careful not to get burned on the hot pipes. On all 1.3 engine models manufactured since October 1985, the oil filter has a metric thread, so when replacing the filter, check the production date of your car in advance.
7. On engines 1.6 and 1.8, the oil filter is located under the lower support bracket of the generator, on the side of the crankshaft pulley.
8. Oil filters for engines of different sizes are not interchangeable.
9. To remove the old filter you will need a special chain or belt wrench.
10. Alternatively, you can pierce the filter with a screwdriver closer to its end and, using it as a lever, unscrew the filter. This method of removal is accompanied by spillage of some of the oil.
11. Wipe the crankcase sealing flange and apply a little grease to the rubber sealing ring of the new filter.
12. Screw the filter into place by hand.
13. Fill the engine with oil through the hole in the camshaft cover.
14. Reinstall the plug.
15. Start the engine. After a few seconds the low oil pressure warning light should go out (It takes a few seconds for the empty filter to fill with oil).
16. Turn off the engine, wait a few minutes and check the oil level (pull out the dipstick, wipe it, insert it again, pull it out and check the level). It may drop slightly as the new filter fills with oil. If necessary, add oil, being careful not to overfill, as Excess oil leads to foaming at high engine speeds.
17. The oil level should be between the two marks on the dipstick.
Replacing the oil filter safety valve
19. The oil filter relief valve is located under the filter base. To remove the valve, you need to screw an M10 tap into it and use it to pull out the valve.
20. The new valve should be pushed into place until it stops using a bit with a diameter of approximately 15 mm.
