Engine and Automatic Transmission — Disconnecting After Removal from Vehicle (Opel Ascona C)

            0

1. Clean the engine with automatic transmission removed from the car with kerosene or water-soluble solvent and a stiff brush.

2. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the starter.

3. Loosen the bolts and remove the torque converter cover.

4. Remove the bolts securing the drive disk to the torque converter. To prevent the disk from rotating, block its toothed ring with a large screwdriver. When assembling the drive disk with the torque converter, new bolts will be required.

5. Unscrew and remove the bolts that secure the engine and gearbox to each other.
