2. Make sure that models built before 1984 have their brake shoes fully adjusted using the adjusters on their rear plates (see Section 8).
3. Raise the rear of the machine so that the rear wheels can rotate freely.
4. Place the handbrake control lever in its first position.
5. Using two wrenches, adjust the cable by turning the nuts on the threaded part of the fixture at the end of the cable. It is located on or above the rear axle crossbar. After adjustment, you should be able to hear the brake pads rubbing when you rotate the rear wheels by hand in the normal direction of travel (photo).

6. The setup is now correct. Lubricate the threaded part of the fixture at the end of the cable to prevent corrosion.
7. Lower the car.
