Adjusting the accelerator pump

If the amount of fuel supplied per stroke of the accelerator pump piston does not correspond to the norm, i.e. more than 0.9-1.1 cm per cycle, tighten the drive rod nut to bring the amount of fuel back to normal.

Adjusting engine idle speed

Idle speed adjustment is performed on a warm engine, with the ignition timing set correctly, with the air damper fully open and the air filter installed.

Connect the tachometer and gas analyzer according to the operating instructions.

Using the mixture quantity adjusting screw 1 (see photo), set the engine crankshaft speed within 900-950 rpm.

Using the mixture quantity adjusting screw 1 (see photo), set the engine crankshaft speed within…

Check the carbon monoxide (CO) content in the exhaust gases and, if necessary, use the mixture quality (composition) adjusting screw 2 to achieve a CO content within 1.0-1.5%. If necessary, use screw 1 to restore the specified engine crankshaft speed at idle and put a plug on the mixture quality (composition) adjusting screw.

Checking and adjusting the starting clearance of the air damper

Remove the air filter.

Close the air damper by moving the profile sector "A" (see picture) until it stops at the axle.

Close the air damper by moving the profile sector «A» (see picture) until it stops at the axle.

Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.

Measure the starting clearance of the air damper, which should be within 3.0-3.4 mm, and, if necessary, adjust it with the adjusting screw "B" of the air damper pneumatic drive diaphragm stroke.

When performing this operation on a removed carburetor, proceed as follows:
  • connect a hand vacuum pump to the air damper pneumatic drive pipe;
  • close the air damper;
  • create a vacuum of the required magnitude in the pneumatic drive of the air damper using a vacuum pump;
  • measure the starting gap of the air damper, which should be within 3.0-3.4 mm;
  • adjust the gap with screw "B" if necessary.

Checking and adjusting the throttle valve starting clearance

Remove the air filter.

Connect the tachometer according to the operating instructions.

Start, warm up the engine to normal operating temperature and let it idle.

Close the air damper so that the profile sector rests against the axle. In this position, read the tachometer readings. If the crankshaft speed is not within 3400-3800 rpm, remove the plug from the adjusting screw "B" (see picture) by opening the throttle valve and turning the screw to achieve the required engine operating mode.

Install a plug on the adjusting screw "B".

When performing this operation on a removed carburetor, close the air damper and measure the starting clearance of the throttle valve, which should be 0.65 mm.

When performing this operation on a removed carburetor, close the air damper and measure the…
