Checking and adjusting the air damper opening

Start and warm up the engine, then stop it. Remove the air filter.

Start the engine and let it run at fast idle.

Close the air damper and measure its opening, which should be within 2.8-3.4 mm. If necessary, obtain the desired size with the adjusting screw of the air damper pneumatic drive.

After adjustment, secure the screw with paint or special varnish.

If the adjusting screw of the pneumatic drive does not allow the required opening of the air damper, replace the pneumatic drive, as well as the pusher and the foot of the air damper drive.

The opening of the air damper can also be adjusted with the carburetor removed, by supplying a vacuum to the pneumatic drive using a special device, holding the air damper in the closed position.

Checking the air damper pneumatic drive

Apply vacuum to the air damper pneumatic drive using a vacuum pump so that the telescopic rod of the starting device is retracted as far as possible. The rod must remain in this position for at least 30 s. If this condition is not met, replace the air damper pneumatic drive.

Adjusting the telescopic rod of the starting device

Apply vacuum to the air damper pneumatic drive using a vacuum pump so that the telescopic rod of the starting device moves as far as possible. In this position, measure the gap between the air damper control lever and the telescopic rod of the starting device, which should be within 0.1-0.3 mm.



If necessary, set the required gap by bending the end of the telescopic rod of the starting device.

Checking the air damper opening time

Start a cold engine (the ambient temperature should be about 20°C).

The air damper should open fully after 3-4 minutes. If this happens after more than 4 minutes, replace the automatic starting device cover.

Adjusting the position of the automatic starting device cover

When installing the cover of the automatic starting device, it is necessary to align the mark on the cover with the first division of the scale after the central division in the direction of the letter "L" (see photo).
