To correctly adjust the idle speed and CO content, the following conditions must be met:
- The oil temperature must be at least 60°C.
- The ignition system must be properly adjusted.
- There should be no air leakage in the intake tract.
- The air filter must be clean. If necessary, it must be cleaned or replaced.
- The intake manifold air heater must be adjusted.
- Energy consumers (radio, lighting, etc.) must be turned off.
- The adjusting screw 3 must not touch the stepped disc 4 (see fig.).
- On vehicles with automatic transmission, the gear selector must be in the "R".
Connect tachometer and gas analyzer.
Start the engine. Check idle speed (it should be in the range of 900-950 rpm (for cars with automatic transmission: 800-850 rpm)) and CO content in exhaust gases (it should be in the range of 0.5-1.5%).
If the measured values do not correspond to those given above, correct them.
Remove the protective seals from the adjusting screws. A special puller can be used for this. If it is not available, punch or drill a hole of the appropriate diameter in the seal and screw a screw or screw into it. Use forceps to remove the seal together with the screw.
Adjust the idle speed with screw 1 (see fig.C0112).
Adjust the CO content in the exhaust gases with screw 2.
Close the adjusting screws with new protective seals.
