Checking and adjusting the accelerator pump of the 2E3 carburetor (Opel Vectra A)

            0

The amount of fuel supplied by the accelerator pump must be checked when its consumption is too high, the transient conditions in the engine are poor, or the engine picks up speed slowly.

To perform the check, it is necessary to ensure a normal fuel level and its free passage into the float chamber; fuel supply should begin immediately after the throttle valve is pressed.

Remove the carburetor.

Remove the carburetor.

Turn the stepped washer 4 so that the idle speed adjusting screw 3 is not visible. Secure the washer in this position.

Place a funnel with a measuring container under the carburetor.

Caution! For vehicles with automatic transmission, turn the throttle damper up before measuring the fuel level.

Press the accelerator pedal fully and smoothly (approximately 1 stroke/sec). Between two moves make a pause of 3 seconds.

The measured amount of fuel in the tank is divided by 10 and compared with the value given in the specification. If the obtained value deviates, check the accelerator pump. If necessary, replace faulty elements.

Adjust the amount of fuel supplied. To do this, loosen screw 1 and turn cam 2 (see fig.C0225).

Lock the screw after adjusting with a drop of paint.

Install the carburetor.

Adjust idle speed and CO content in exhaust gases.
