Disconnect the negative battery terminal, disconnect the air cleaner hoses and remove the air box.
Thoroughly remove any dirt from the outer surface of the accelerator pump housing.
Remove the four screws and the pump cover. Remove the diaphragm, spring, plate and valve. Note the location of the valve plate.
Remove dirt from the mating surfaces of the cover and body.
Check the condition of the valve and replace it if necessary.

Begin installing the new diaphragm by positioning the valve, valve plate, and spring in the housing. The valve plate can only be installed in one position. The spring should be on the plate with the larger diameter side.
Place the diaphragm in the housing, checking that it is installed correctly, then install the cover. Tighten the cover mounting screws gradually to avoid damaging the diaphragm.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
