Disconnect the negative battery terminal, disconnect the air cleaner hoses and remove the air box.
Carefully remove dirt from the outer surface of the accelerator pump housing.
Remove four screws and pump cover. Remove diaphragm, spring, poppet and valve. Note the location of the valve head.
Remove dirt from the mating surfaces of the cover and housing.
Check the condition of the valve and, if necessary, replace it.
Start installing a new diaphragm by placing the valve, valve head and spring in the body. The valve disc can only be installed in one position. The spring should lie on the plate with the side with the larger diameter.
Position the diaphragm in the body, making sure it is properly seated, then install the cover. Tighten the cap screws gradually to avoid damage to the diaphragm.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
