Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Disconnect the air cleaner hoses and remove the air box.
Thoroughly remove dirt from all external surfaces of parts around the economizer.
Remove the two screws, economizer cover, spring and diaphragm assembly.

Remove dirt from the mating surfaces of the cover and body.
Install the new diaphragm as follows.
Install the spring on the diaphragm assembly cover, checking for proper installation, then press the assembly and cover together. The vacuum hole in the diaphragm should align with the corresponding holes in the cover and body flange.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, after checking that the diaphragm is installed correctly.
