Checking and adjusting the fast idle speed of the 2E3 carburetor (Opel Vectra A)

Checking and, if necessary, adjusting the accelerated idle speed is required when the engine runs unsteadily when the number of revolutions increases or when the cold engine does not pick up speed well. In addition, such adjustment is necessary after disassembling the carburetor.

Connect the tachometer (as a rule, it is connected to contacts 1 and 15 of the ignition coil).

Check the idle speed and CO content in the exhaust gases of a warm engine. The engine oil temperature should not be below 70°C.

Remove the air filter.

Stop the engine.

Set the adjusting screw 3 to the second highest step of the washer 4 (see fig.C0214).



Start the engine without pressing the accelerator pedal.

Determine the maximum engine speed using the tachometer and compare it with the specification value.

If necessary, adjust the maximum number of revolutions with screw 3 with the air damper fully open.

Install the air filter.
