Removal, installation and adjusting the accelerator cable of the 2E3 carburetor (Opel Vectra A)

Caution! The accelerator cable is sensitive to kinks and requires careful handling. A minor kink may cause the cable to break later during operation. Such a cable should not be installed.


Removal



Remove the air filter.

Remove the air filter.


Remove the accelerator cable with the rubber bushing from the support (see fig.).

Attention! Do not open the cable retainer!


Secure the cable with the tip on the lever mechanism. Remove the locking clip from the tip using a screwdriver.

Use a screwdriver to press the cable tip away from the lever.

Installation



Insert the locking clip into the accelerator cable end.

Press on the cable end. Fully insert the locking clip onto the end.

Insert the cable into the support with the rubber insert.

Check the cable adjustment.

Adjustment



The accelerator cable in the idle position should have a play of approximately 1 mm.

In the "full throttle" position (give the assistant the command to fully depress the accelerator pedal) the throttle valve must be fully open.

If necessary, adjust the tension of the accelerator cable by moving the lock.
