Checking, removing and installing the intake manifold heating device of the 2E3 carburetor (Opel Vectra A)

To improve the vehicle's performance, an electric heating element is installed in the intake manifold. It provides rapid heating of the fuel-air mixture during engine start-up.

Examination



To test the device, the following conditions must be met: the battery must be charged (minimum voltage 11.5 V), and the engine is cold (t=20°C).

Disconnect the connector from the heating device.

Connect the voltmeter to the current-carrying wire and the "ground". Turn on the ignition and check the voltage. It should be 11.5 V.

Turn off the ignition.

Turn off the ignition.


Connect the ohmmeter as shown in the figure and check the resistance of the heating element. It should be 1.5 ohms.

Replace the heating element if necessary.

Removal



Remove heating element 1 (see fig.C4563).

Installation



Before installation, clean the contact surfaces on the intake manifold.

Install a new heating element with a new sealing ring 2 (see fig.C4563).
