The result of a thermostat malfunction is:
- unstable operation of the engine at idle during warm-up;
- unstable operation of the engine in transient conditions;
- increased fuel consumption.
Disconnect the transparent tube from the air filter vacuum control valve and check the operation of the warm air damper 2 (see above fig.C4541), sucking in air through the tube. The damper must close and open. If this does not happen, check the adjusting flap of the vacuum device 1 for ease of movement or replace the valve.
