Note: When installing, use new cylinder head bolts, a new cylinder head gasket and a new timing belt. Tightening torques in Specifications (as stated in Section 2A) apply only to the latest bolts available from Opel. Tightening torques for earlier bolt types are different. Consult your supplier.


Removal



1. Some of the gaskets can be removed together with the intake manifold, or the intake manifold can be separated from the cylinder head before removing it, as described in Section 4B.

2. Proceed as described in Chapter 8, items 17-19 inclusive.

3. Remove the distributor cover and high voltage wires, following the Section 5.

4. Remove the bolt securing the crankcase breather pipe bracket to the end of the cylinder head.

5. Perform a final check to ensure all relevant hoses, pipes and wires are disconnected.

6. Proceed as described in Chapter 8, items 26-31.

Installation



7. Proceed as described in Chapter 8, items 32-38 inclusive, but finally ensure that all relevant hoses, bushings, wires, etc., have been securely reconnected.
