Slave and pressure plates of the clutch (Opel Frontera B)

Removal

Remove the gearbox (see the relevant chapter).

Mark the relative positions of the clutch housing and flywheel for subsequent installation of the clutch housing in its original position.

Gradually loosen the clutch assembly mounting bolts diagonally, turning each bolt half a turn until the diaphragm spring action is released and the bolts can be removed by hand. Remove the clutch housing with pressure plate and the clutch disc.

Examination

Check the ends of the diaphragm spring for wear.

Check the pressure plate for cracks, burns and surface wear.

Check the condition of the friction linings of the driven clutch disc and if there are traces of oil or mechanical damage on them, replace the clutch disc.

Check the coil springs for damage and replace the clutch disc if necessary.

Clean the splines on the transmission input shaft and ensure that the clutch disc moves smoothly on the input shaft splines. If the disc is seizing on the input shaft or the clearance in the splines is increased, replace the clutch driven disc and/or the transmission input shaft.

Installation

Lubricate the splines of the clutch driven disc with universal grease.

Install the driven clutch disc and center it with a special mandrel (arrow).

In accordance with the previously applied markings, install the clutch housing with the pressure plate and gradually, in a certain sequence, secure it with bolts.

Tightening torque of the bolts securing the housing with the pressure plate of the pressure type clutch: 18 Nm





Tightening torque of the bolts securing the housing with the pressure plate of the pull-type clutch: 30 Nm



Remove special mandrel 09411-11000.

Install the gearbox.

Check the clutch operation.

Adjust the installation height and free travel of the clutch pedal (see the relevant chapter).
