Camshaft Position Sensor (Opel Frontera B)

Removal



Disconnect the connector from the engine air temperature sensor located on the air intake tube (1).

Disconnect the resonator hose from the air intake tube (1).

Remove the air intake tube (1) and the air filter housing cover (2) as an assembly.

Remove the air intake tube (1) and the air filter housing cover (2) as an assembly.


Remove the ignition coil block cover (1) from the cylinder head cover.

Remove the ignition coil block cover (1) from the cylinder head cover.


Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector (2).

Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector (2).


Remove the front timing belt cover (see the relevant chapter).



Remove the bolt (3) securing the camshaft position sensor.

Remove the bolt (3) securing the camshaft position sensor.


Remove the camshaft position sensor (4) by lifting it upwards.

Installation



Install the camshaft position sensor and secure it with the bolt, tightening it to a torque of 6 N·m.

Install the front timing belt cover (see the relevant chapter).

Connect the connector to the camshaft position sensor.

Install the ignition coil block cover onto the cylinder head cover.

Install the air intake tube (1) and the air filter housing cover (2). Tighten the air intake pipe mounting nut to the bracket to 16 Nm.

Connect the resonator hose to the air intake tube.

Connect the connector to the engine air temperature sensor located on the air intake tube.

Engine 3.2L (6VD1 -W)



Removal



Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.



Remove the engine cover.

Disconnect the connector from the camshaft position sensor.

Remove the bolt and camshaft position sensor from the cylinder head.

Installation



Install the camshaft position sensor and secure it with the bolt, tightening it to a torque of 9 N·m.

Connect the connector to the camshaft position sensor.

Install the engine cover.

Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
