The installation and removal of the oil pump is performed in the same way as for engines manufactured before 1997. The difference is in the removal of the oil pan. This operation is performed in the same way as described in the last subsection. The oil pump suction pipe is located on the right side as shown in the illustration. point 7. Pump repair also corresponds to the description given above.

Bypass valve in the cylinder head (released since 1997.)



The valve, which functions as a safety valve, is located under the threaded plug and consists of a steel ball with a spring. The description given for the valve of an earlier release is valid for it. To do this, you need to remove the cylinder head.

Pressure reducing valve (all engines)



The pressure relief valve can be replaced without removing the engine. The oil pan shield must be removed.

1. If there is air conditioning, remove the power steering pump; for vehicles without air conditioning, remove the generator.

4. Install the new valve in reverse order. Tighten the plug to a torque of 30 Nm.

1. The cylinder block has the appearance shown in the illustration. The bearing bridge (1) is bolted to the underside of the cylinder block and the crankshaft main bearing caps, thus forming a rigid connection. The oil baffle plate (2) is bolted to the lower part of the bearing bridge (3). When removing the oil pan on engines of this type, it is not necessary to remove the oil baffle plate.
