Attention! The plug is under spring pressure and may pop out. Be careful. The sealing ring must be replaced. Knock the piston out of the valve hole.
1. Loosen the bolts and remove the pump cover (illustrations). Remove both gears from the pump.
Instruction. The pressure reducing valve can be replaced without removing the pump. It is on the right side of the pump, looking at the motor, next to the pulley.
The lubrication system has a bypass valve. It is located in the cylinder head. To replace it, you must remove the cylinder head, which requires a special tool. If there are difficulties with its replacement, you must contact the auto repair shop. To do this, the cylinder head is removed.
2. Carefully knock out the crankshaft oil seal with a mandrel.
3. Thoroughly clean all parts and visually check for wear. Wear marks on the pump cover in most cases indicate pump failure. If the details look satisfactory, further control of them is carried out as follows:
4. Insert the gears into the pump housing and place a steel ruler on top as shown in illustration. Measure the gap between the ruler and the gears with a feeler gauge. It should be 0.03-0.10 mm. If the clearance is outside the specified limits, the gears or the entire pump are replaced.
5. Measure the gap between any two gear teeth with a feeler gauge, as shown in the illustration. It should be 0.175-0.225 mm. If the gap is outside the specified limits, the gears or the entire pump are replaced as a set.
6. The pressure relief valve spool must not show signs of wear. The spring must be correct.
The pump is assembled in the reverse order of disassembly. Lubricate gears generously before installation. Lubricate the cover mounting bolts with sealant. pressure reducing valve (assembly sequence: spool, spring and plug) install on a new gasket. Tighten the plug with a torque of 30 Nm.
Install the O-ring now or when installing the pump.
Bypass valve in the cylinder head
The safety valve is located under the screw plug and consists of a steel ball with a spring. It is possible to dismantle the indicated plug (drill a hole, screw in a self-tapping screw and remove the plug with pliers). However, the valve seat can be replaced. It can only be removed with a puller. Installing a screw plug requires skill. Therefore, it is recommended that this work be performed in a car workshop.
